From 1950 to 1956, he attended Yaba Methodist School in Lagos. From 1957 to 1962, he attended Odogbolu Grammar School as a pioneer student in his hometown of Odogbolu.
Career
In the Nigerian Civil War, Diya enlisted at the Nigerian Defense Academy in Kaduna.
Thereafter, he attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (Kuru), the Command and Staff College (Jaji), and the US Army School of Infantry.
Diya studied law when he was in the military at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he earned an LLB, and later at the Nigerian Law School, where he was admitted to the bar and appointed a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Commander of the 31st Airborne Brigade was Oladipo Diya.
He served as Ogun State’s Military Governor from January 1984 to August 1985.
In 1985, he was appointed General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army’s 82nd Division.
