SCHOOLS AND CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- Where the time on the question paper differs from the time on this timetable, the time on the question paper should be strictly adhered to.
- Practical in Business Studies as well as Basic Science & Technology (BST) should be in sets where the number of candidates is large and the equipment cannot go However, the practical examination should not exceed 5.00pm. Computers can be used for Business Studies.
- Albinos and Blind Candidates are to be given 30mins extra time in all.
- Blind Candidates must make use of NECO-supplied OBR Customised Braille Sheet for the Examination.
- Bringing into the examination hall electronic communication gadgets (programmable calculators, mobile phones, ipads tablets, smart wrist watches/glasses/pens etc) are strictly prohibited.

NECO BECE FAQ
Why is the BECE important?
1. It serves as a determining factor for selecting students who are eligible to advance from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School.
2. The BECE certification is a prerequisite to obtain the Basic Education Certificate, which is a key qualification for pursuing further education and employment opportunities.

Who Conducts The BECE in Nigeria?
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO).
While both examination boards have similar responsibilities in conducting the BECE, they differ in terms of the schools they are authorized to conduct the examination for.
How to Register for BECE 2023?
Students can register for the examination at their secondary schools, whether public or government-owned.
Additionally, Federal government approved private secondary schools or State Ministry of Education approved private secondary schools are authorized to register candidates for the BECE.
What are the subjects in the BECE?
To pass the BECE, a candidate must obtain passes in six subjects, including Mathematics and English.

How is the BECE graded?
Candidates can receive grades of A for Distinction, C for Credit, P for Pass, and F for Fail.
To pass any subject in the BECE, candidates must receive a grade of Pass or higher.
If a candidate fails to obtain a Pass grade in English Language and Mathematics, they automatically fail the BECE and must retake the exam the following year.
