SEPTEMBER 2023 CHEMISTRY PRACTICAL EXAMINATION

INSTRUCTIONS TO PRACTICAL: You are required to provide the following materials ready for Chemistry Practical Examination.

Solutions should be properly labelled.
For each candidate:

Jupeb chemistry practical specimen 2023

1. 25 cm pipette
2. 50 cm3 Burette
3. 250 cm3 Conical flasks (2 per candidate)
4. 250 cm3 Beakers (2 per candidate)
5. Test tubes at least 4 per candidate
6. Retort stand and clamp
7. White tile
8. Litmus paper
9. Copper tunings
10. Methyl orange indicator.
l l . Phenolphthalein indicator
Reagent and Chemicals required:
12. Solution A (0.5M HCI) made by dissolving 18.25g of conc. HCI in I dm 3 of water.
13. Solution B is prepared by dissolving 33.5 g of NaHC03 and 2.7 g of Na2C03 in I dm3 distilled water.
14. Solid sample of Na2C03, KCI and NH4N03 (Mixed and labelled C),
15. Each student will need 100 cm3 of solution A and 100 cm3 of solution B.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PRACTICAL: Each student should be provided with the following specimens

1. I- Cockroach
2. J- Mosquito
3. K -House fly
4. L- Grasshopper
5. S -Aspergillus niger
6. T –Aspergillus flavus
7. U -Penicillium sp
8. V- Mucor sp
9. W -Hand lens
10. X- Mouldy bread
11. Y- orange fruit
12. Z- tomato fruit
13. Microscopes with specimens S, T, U and V mounted

NOTE: All candidates MUST come to the Practical Examination Hall with their laboratory coats. The ratio of specimens to candidates should be 1:1
