JAMB to exclude diagrams from questions for blind candidates: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to enhance its commitment to inclusivity by making adjustments for the upcoming 2024 UTME.

In a virtual meeting with the nation’s Commissioners of Education held in Abuja, the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, unveiled plans to exclude diagrams, illustrations, and maps from test items designed for blind candidates.

Prof. Oloyede emphasized that the Board aims to create a level playing field by ensuring that questions devoid of diagrams, illustrations, and maps maintain the same difficulty level as other test items, specifically tailored for blind candidates participating in the 2024 UTME.

Addressing concerns about the registration and conduct of the UTME for candidates with disabilities beyond visual and hearing impairments, the Registrar highlighted JAMB’s commitment to providing necessary provisions.

He stressed that these efforts seek to prevent any form of disadvantage for candidates with disabilities, aligning with resolutions made at the recently concluded “National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria,” organized by JAMB.
