Alao-Akala was a former police officer as well as the governor of Oyo State from 2007 to 2011.
He served as a deputy governor to Rashidi Ladoja, the state’s previous governor from 2003 to 2006.
After his boss, Ladoja, was impeached before being officially elected in 2007, Alao-Akala became acting governor for eleven months.

Political Career of Alao-Akala
As a member of New Dimension, Alao-Akala began his political career. He ran in the 1996 zero-party local government election and later co-founded the UNP, which merged with the UNC to become the UNCP.
In 1998, he ran for and won the chairmanship seat in Ogbomoso North under the APP platform. From 1999 until 2002, he was the monarch.
Alao-Akala established the Ogbomoso Unity Forum, a political party that ultimately merged with the PDP. From 1999 to 2002, he served as Chairman of the Ogbomoso North Local Government.
Between 2003 to 2006, Otunba Alao-Akala served as deputy governor to Rashidi Ladoja, the state’s former governor.
